Every time that we hear a government bureaucrat tell us that these “end of life drugs” only prolong life
by a few months, we need to remember Wally’s story and keep pushing for access for everyone.
From my personal perspective, Wally’s story is one of patient empowerment (he kept track of his tumour sizes in an Excel spreadsheet) and the absolute promise of drugs in clinical trials. If Wally hadn’t accessed that trial (on the advice of other patients on the Internet), he would very clearly not be alive today.
Thanks to Wally for continuing to “pay it forward” through his role as a Director with KCC and by sharing his story. Get the Kleenex out!
